Mengintip Bentuk Soal Simulasi UNBK Bahasa Inggris SMK Terbaru

Hari Jumat tanggal 2 Desember 2016, SMKN 1 Probolinggo menggelar simulasi Ujian Nasonal Berbasis Komputer atau yang dikenal dengan istilah UNBK, yang dalam versi bahasa Inggris lebih dikenal dengan istilah Computer-Based Test (CBT). Dengan harapan untuk mempunyai gambaran tentang soal-soal UNBK Bahasa Inggris, Mister Guru tidak menyia-nyiakan kesempatan yang diberikan sekolah kepada guru-guru pengajar mapel Ujian Nasional tersebut. Berikut ini beberapa catatan tentang simulasi UN CBT Bahasa Inggris tingkat SMK tersebut.

Dari segi teknis, pelaksanaan simulasi UN CBT patut diacungi jempol. Tidak ada kendala atau hambatan apapun sejak awal hingga akhir pelaksanaan simulasi. Segera setelah memasukkan user name dan password, token ujian sudah tersedia, dan simulasi UN CBT bisa segera dikerjakan. Ini jauh berbeda dengan pelaksanaan UN tahun lalu, di mana peserta harus menunggu sampai berjam-jam sebelum token bisa didapatkan secara online.

Loading dari satu halaman ke halaman lainnya pun bisa dibilang sangat cepat, mungkin karena bandwidth yang tersedia cukup besar serta ditunjang oleh performa komputer yang sudah mumpuni. Salut. Tidaklah mengherankan jika semua soal simulasi UNBK bisa diselesaikan dalam waktu kira-kira setengah jam. Semoga kelancaran penyelenggaraan CBT bisa dipertahankan pada pelaksanaan UNBK tanggal 3-6 April 2017 nanti, di mana server pasti akan dibanjiri ribuan pelajar peserta UN di seluruh Nusantara.

Dari segi isi, ada beberapa catatan tentang materi simulasi UN CBT Bahasa Inggris yang cukup penting untuk diketahui.

A. Listening

Secara umum, kualitas tes listening dalam simulasi UNBK ini sudah bagus. Kualitas gambar serta suara sudah jelas.Komposisi soal dalam sesi Listening masih sama dengan soal-soal UN Bahasa Inggris SMK selama ini.

Akan tetapi, file audio serta laman yang berisi petunjuk pengerjaan soal (Directions) masih menjadi satu dengan soal pertama dalam setiap bagian Listening, sedangkan soal-soal berikutnya sudah berdiri sendiri-sendiri. Demi menjaga konsistensi atau homogenitas file audio setiap soal, alangkah baiknya jika petunjuk pengerjaan soal dibuat terpisah dengan soal dan bisa diakses melalui sebuah tautan tersendiri, yang mungkin bisa dinamai "Directions".

Dengan demikian, jika peserta ingin mengulang soal pertama dalam suatu bagian, dia tidak perlu mendengarkan petunjuk pengerjaan soal sekali lagi. Sedikit banyak, hal ini bisa menghemat waktu peserta yang sebagian besar sudah paham tentang cara pengerjaan soal. Mungkin tampak sepele, tapi hal ini bisa mengurangi "penilaian" terhadap UNBK sebagai alat evaluasi nasional yang sudah disiapkan secara profesional.

B. Reading

Meskipun ada 1 soal yang menurut Mister Guru memiliki jawaban ganda, kualitas tes Reading sudah cukup bagus dengan tingkat kesulitan dan materi yang sesuai untuk mengukur kemampuan pelajar SMK.


Soal Reading yang berpeluang memiliki jawaban ganda
Perubahan besar terdapat pada komposisi soal Reading. Meskipun jumlahnya tetap 35 soal, komposisinya jauh berbeda dengan soal UN selama ini. Soal nomer 16 sampai 29 merupakan soal Reading Comprehension yang berisi Reading texts dan dialog. Nomer 30 sampai 41 merupakan soal Incomplete dialogs. Sedangkan 9 soal terakhir, yaitu nomer 42 sampai 50, adalah soal Cloze text, yang berisi 3 teks rumpang. (Update: Pada simulasi terbaru tahun 2020, soal jenis cloze text sudah ditiadakan dan diganti dengan reading texts / dialogs.)

Lalu, ke mana perginya soal Error Recognition yang selama ini selalu menjadi bagian dalam soal UN? Apakah soal Error Recognition memang dihapus dari UN? (Update: Soal Error Recognition sudah resmi dihapus pada UN, begitu juga pada soal TOEIC.)
