🚫 Trap #1: The "Same Sound" Mirage
TOEIC Part 2 loves to trick your brain with phonetic similarity. If you hear a word in the response that sounds identical to one in the question, be extremely suspicious.
| Question: | "Where is the file?" |
| Distractor: | "I will file the documents later." (Wrong context!) |
🔄 Trap #2: The Indirect Response
In the modern 2026 global economy, answers aren't always direct. Sometimes the correct answer is a "referral" to another source of information.
- Direct: "When is the deadline?" → "At 5:00 PM."
- Indirect (Correct): "When is the deadline?" → "It's posted on the staff portal."
- Avoidance: "I’m not sure, let me check with the manager."
❓ Trap #3: The Wh- / Yes-No Conflict
This is the fastest way to eliminate wrong answers. Information questions (Wh- questions) require facts, not confirmation.
The Golden Rule: If a question begins with Who, What, Where, When, Why, or How, you can immediately eliminate any response that starts with "Yes," "No," or "Sure."
🚀 Pro-Tip: The Three-Finger Method
Since nothing is printed on the screen, use your fingers to keep track of options A, B, and C. Fold a finger down only when you are 100% sure an option is a distractor.
